THE SUN AND MENCKEN
Aha! Aha! Now we have it. The reason the Baltimore Sun and Mencken are so angry with Salisbury and the Eastern Shore is because Jimmie Cannon and Amos Woodcock are Salisburians. Jimmie has been away from his native heath a great many years, but not so Amos! His sign still adorns the front of a Salisbury law office. And there is Clarence True Wilson; and how he riles 'em! Clarence's daddy was a Salisbury preacher, and Clarence went to school in Salisbury and became imbued with Eastern Shore cussedness and native smartness.
Aha! Again! Mencken drank a quart of beer—real beer—the other day—at one gulp—bragged that he drained the mug without taking it from his lips.
