The murder occurred about 2.15 P. M. Williams turned the gun upon himself and was taken to Peninsula General Hospital here suffering from two pistol wounds.
Mobsmen Enter Hospital At about 8 P. M., six members of a mob that had formed in the meantime entered the hospital by a side entrance while the main party was halted at the front entrance by officers.
Williams was seized and taken to the Courthouse square, where he was hanged from a tree.
With one hundred witnesses to be interviewed, i the grand jury will be engaged with the case for several days, it is said. State's Attorney Bailey did not state whether this matter would be made the first order of business for the jurors.
The criminal docket for this term of court is the smallest on record for several years. Only thirty-eight witnesses are to be called on other cases, whereas the number usually approximates 150. The Williams case probably will be reached Tuesday.
