BLAME RITCHIE
BALTIMORE. Dec. 5.—With
Bernard Ades. counsel for the International Labor Defense League, holding Governor Ritchie indirectly responsible for the lynching of Matthew Williams, and with State's Attorney Godfrey Child, of Worcester county, holding the league responsible, the battle of words continued today with the fate of another negro involved in the outcome.
Ades continues to insist that the trial of Orphan Jones, known also as Yuel Lee, be moved from Worcester county to Baltimore. He5 claims the negro, accused of slaying Green Davis and his family at Taylorsville. cannot get a safe trial anywhere on the Eastern Shore, and he now cites the Williams lynching to support his claim. Ades charges that Ritchie j has maintained that law and ! order prevail on the Eastern Shore when the situation is other- I wise. I
State's Attorney Child, however, declares:
"The lynching- indicates that if the International Labor Defense League doesn't stop /ned-dling on the Eastern Shore, we're going: to have serious trouble."
