| But it remains for H. L. Mencken, special writer for the Evening Sun, 'to cap the climax as far as newspaper criticism is concened. In his characteristic diabolical way he spread his hatred for the Eastern Shore over the edi-total >page of the Evening Sun. His 'comments coming from a diseased immji, polluted with germs that come from the Pit itself, are always destructive and never constructive. Foaming and ranting at some length he describes the Eastern Shore men as degenerates, takes a fling at our Courts describes our newspapers as written by uneducated writers, decries Prohibition and insults religion and the min-istes of the Shore. When Mencken's time on earth is up he will be a welcomed contributor to the Devil's Flaming Rag of Freedom in the lower regions. {Centreville Record) The action of the mob hi Salisbury last Friday as possible and we do not believe that its action is upheld by anyone. But we do not think that the entire Eastern Shore should be condemned and blamed and paraded before the world in the manner in •which it has been by the Baltimore Sun, for the action of this mob, many of whom possibly were not residents ¦of this state. ...................... All we ask of the Baltimore press ?s to give us proper publicity and not to exploit unduly the crimes on the Eastern Shore any more than they do the banking and financial happenings in Baltimore City and we will see that justice is meted out properly to those accused of crimes and without mob violence. |
