* Meddlers Make More Trouble
Editor, The Montgomery Press:
I was rather surprised at the Baltimore Sun in printing an article, which was to appear in the Chicago Tribune. and written by their staff correspondent, who had been sent from Chicago to Salisbury to investigate the ; lynching. Double headlines precede ! the article stating, "Find Mob Spirit Rules Eastern Shore; Lynching May Embarrass Ritchie."
Why should Chicago send a staff correspondent here to investigate a lynching? It had best clean up before its own door and provide some safety for its citizens.
We have a model state, practically free from crime. We have a model citizenship and a model governor. Not only is Chicago crime-ridden but it i? so in debt that it cannot pay its employees. Let the Chicago newspaper man go back and find some of these gangsters and criminals who assasinatt the citizenry of his own city. We are all opposed to lynching but constan* agitation and interference by meddlers only bring on more trouble.
Governor Ritchie stands high with all classes of this old Commonwealth, including Republicans and Democrats. and even the drys respect him, and the wet love him for his independence and for his stand for state rights, honestj and liberty.
