MARYLAND AFTER MOBBERS
It looks like Maryland is going after the mobbers, who last Friday killed and burned a negro slayer, with more genuine intensity than any Southern state has yet exhibited.
Gov. Albert Ritchie has informed Attorney Gen. William KLiie, JP.j'tJaat the whole power of the state will be placed behind him in his efforts to bring to justice the gang which mobbed the negro.
Sometimes when a lynching is perpetrated state or district officials show a sudden flurry of interest and issue statements.
At other times, a lynching fails to cause an official ripple and the affair ends with the general excitement.
The crime involved in Maryland's lynching was the murder of a Salisbury lumberman by a negro employe. The negro was wounded and taken to a hospital from which he was forcibly removed by the mob. and hanged to a pole nearby.
