I reeeived your favor of December 16th. The Maryland state authorities are doing everything the'; can be done to apprehend the perpetrators of the Illiama lynching.
I enclose you editorial from the Baltimore Sun of Deoember 11th, reviewinc the steps I have taken, and also copy of my statemont on the subject which appeared in the Sun on Deoember Gth.
Hie Attorney General, under my direction, is in Salisbury this week, conducting the investication personally and on tho spot.
